Photo album scanning

Digitise photo albums without taking them apart first.

We scan photographs from bound, slip-in and scrapbook-style albums. You can have individual image scans, whole-page scans, or both.

You do not need an exact count before you enquire.

What we can scan

Keep the photographs and the album context.

Albums often contain order, handwriting, dates and captions that are worth preserving. We can keep that context while also creating separate digital images where practical.

  • Bound albums, slip-in albums and scrapbook-style pages.
  • Whole-page scans can preserve handwriting, layout and captions.
  • Individual photographs can be supplied separately where practical.
  • Your album is returned after scanning.

How it works

From originals to digital files.

We confirm the work and price before the main scanning starts.

1

Show us the album

Send photographs of the cover and a few typical pages.

2

Choose page, photo or both

We recommend the most useful approach for the album.

3

We scan in order

Pages and photographs are digitised in their existing sequence.

4

You receive an organised copy

Files are supplied in album order and the original is returned.

Common questions

Before you send your material.

Do I need to remove the photographs first?

No. Please show us the album as it is before removing anything.

Can you scan the handwriting on the page?

Yes. Whole-page scanning is useful where captions, notes or layout form part of the family record.

Can I have whole pages and individual photographs?

Yes, where the album construction makes this practical.

What if the album is fragile?

Send photographs first. We will assess whether it can be handled safely and discuss the best method before work begins.

Not sure what you have?

Send us a photograph.

A quick phone picture of the box, album, slides or negatives is often enough for us to advise.
